New Species

Twenty-five brand new bugs from Barrow Island and neighbouring areas of WA's northwest  have been described in the latest Records of the Western Australian Museum.

Scientists from the Western Australian Museum have discovered a rare new species of gecko in the State’s Mid-West and will reveal it to the public for the first time at the WA Museum – Geraldton on Tuesday, October 22.

A very unusual species of bee has been discovered during a recent field study trip to the Ravensthorpe region in the south of Western Australian.

To celebrate the first day of the summer school holidays the WA Museum’s resident reptile expert will display a live, newly described skink species in the WA Museum’s Discovery Centre, Perth on Thursday 15 December at 9.30am.

A rare species of trapdoor spider has been found by chance in the backyard of a Grass Valley home in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region.
