See through the lens of the children from our WA regional communities, as we showcase the winners from the 12th annual School of the Air photo competition.
Each year, Rangelands Natural Resource Management (NRM) runs an annual photo competition for the kids who attend School of the Air (SOTA) in Kalgoorlie, Meekatharra, Carnarvon, Port Hedland and the Kimberley.
Now in its twelfth year, the annual competition engages with children and their families living in the outback of WA. It aims to raise awareness of natural resource management and further involve the next generation of land managers in having pride in our rangeland’s landscapes and our regional communities.
This year’s theme is ‘Natural Surprises, Hidden Beauty’. The rangelands are characterised by seemingly never-ending arid landscapes, dotted with stations. Students captured and entered images that best represented their pride in our rangelands and regional communities, with the aim to raise their awareness of NRM and help them to engage with the land in which they live.
The competition awards prizes for the age groups Lower Primary (Kindy, Pre-Primary, Years 1 and 2), Middle Primary (Years 3, 4 and 5) and Upper Primary (Years 6 and 7).
Visit the Old Gaol exhibition space as we display the creative work of the winners from 2023.
