These school holidays the Discovery Centre will be filled with Viking inspired hands-on and immersive activities!
Originally from Scandinavia, find out who the legendary warriors known as Vikings were. The mighty Vikings raided, explored, and traded with most of Europe.
Dress in Viking clothes or make your own Viking helmet, sit in the Viking longhouse, and try your hand at hnefetafal (a Viking game) or follow the trail to decipher the words written in Nordic runes, solve them to enter in the prize draw.
Join us as we discover more about the Norsemen and life in the Viking Era!
School holidays activities
Viking Helmet | $2
Did the Vikings really have horns on their helmets? Find out when you use our printed die-cut sheets to create your very own helmet.
Viking Longboat | $2
Vikings are well known for their ability to travel long distances to raid and search for better land to settle on. They travelled on vessels called Longships (sometimes called Longboats or Dragon Boats). Use your boat building skills to create a die-cut scale model Longship.
Odin’s Suncatcher | $3
Using stained glass paints create a dazzling suncatcher that Odin would be happy putting up in the halls of Valhalla. Choose from various template designs to create your own suncatcher.
Fearsome Masks | $5
Paint your mask, decorate with tattoos, and stick on a bushy beard and eyebrows to complete the Vicious Viking look! Now you are ready to strike fear into the heart of unsuspecting grownups.
Norse Necklace | $3
