The waters off Albany have sustained communities for generations. For the Menang people and settlers alike, fishing has shaped the region’s way of life — from traditional practices and subsistence fishing, to commercial industries and recreation.
In this talk, you will discover how fishing has historically connected people to the sea. You will also learn more about investigations surrounding the Neill fish pictures, icons of Albany's past which may become part of an exhibition planned for Albany in 2026.
Presented by Malcolm Traill, Research Associate, Museum of the Great Southern.
