Western Australian diver and 2011 ANZANG Nature Photography category winner, Tammy Gibbs will reveal the secret to making the most of underwater photography in two free seminars at the Western Australian Museum- Geraldton this month.
Ms Gibbs, the President of the Western Australian Underwater Photographic Society, said underwater photography offers a unique opportunity for its partakers and admirers to experience a whole new world beneath the sea surface.
“The underwater world is a mystery to many people. For those willing to take the plunge, an ecosystem filled with amazing corals, crustaceans, fish and mammals awaits,” Ms Gibbs said.
In the seminar Ms Gibbs will reveal how to overcome the challenges of underwater photography, share some tips for travelling with dive and camera gear, and showcase a range of her images from local and overseas dive sites and the stories behind them.
Western Australian Museum - Geraldton Regional Manager, Catherine Belcher said ANZANG was one of the Museum’s most popular annual exhibitions and it was exciting to be able to bring a WA photographer who had succeeded in the competition to the Museum to share her passion and expertise with the community.
The free public seminar will be held at the Western Australian Museum - Geraldton at 10am, Friday 29 June, and again on Saturday 30 June.
The free ANZANG Nature Photography exhibition, which includes Ms Gibbs’ Botanical category winning image ‘Gotcha! Ensnared by a Sundew’, will be on display at the Museum until 15 July, 2012.
The ANZANG Nature Photography competition and exhibition is owned by the South Australian Museum.
