Explore the wonderful underwater world of fish to meet some of WA's most unusual and fascinating creatures.
Join our fish experts from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) for a showcase of the diverse and strange fish that inhabit our local waters. From sharks, sawfish, gropers, flounders ... all of these have adapted to their environment, and relationships with other predators and prey in different and unusual ways.
We will have a special visitor from the conservation alliance The Kimberley - Like Nowhere Else to discuss the spectacular sawfish and it's natural habitat in the Martuwarra Fitzroy River. This group is an alliance of leading conservation organizations working together to protect the Kimberley, one of the great unspoilt landscapes on Earth right here in WA.
Come and explore these marvellous creatures with us, with all their snaggletoothed and specialized charms.
After the session
You may like to explore the refuge habitat of the critically endangered sawfish and learn more about the cultural and environmental importance of the Martuwarra Fitzroy River in the north of WA in The Martuwarra Fitzroy River: Lifeblood of the Kimberley exhibition.
