Half the photo pictures the outside of the museum - its curved roof, windows, boardwalk and supporting concrete beams. The other half pictures a river. There a few clouds in the distance that look orange in colour as the sunsets.

As SailGP takes over Fremantle, enjoy a late night at the WA Maritime Museum.

As Fremantle comes alive for the highly anticipated Rolex SailGP Championship, the WA Maritime Museum is extending its hours on Saturday 17 January, staying open until 8pm for one special evening.

Drop in after the races to explore Western Australia’s rich maritime stories, including the legendary Australia II, and wander through our celebrated exhibitions.

Our café will be licensed for the evening, offering a relaxed spot to take in the stunning harbour views as the sun goes down.

Whether you’re a sailing enthusiast, a history lover, or simply soaking up the SailGP atmosphere, this is the perfect way to round out your day in Freo.

About SailGP

The most exciting racing on water, the Rolex SailGP Championship is a global championship with national teams battling it out in identical high-tech, high-speed 50-foot foiling catamarans at iconic venues around the world. Racing faster than the wind at speeds exceeding 100 km/h // 60mph, the Rolex SailGP Championship is driven by the sport’s top athletes, with national pride, personal glory, and bonus prize money of US$12 million at stake. Visit SailGP.com to find out more.

Travel and Parking Updates for SailGP Fremantle – WA Maritime Museum Visitors

SailGP is coming to Fremantle on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January, bringing world-class racing and an exciting atmosphere to the waterfront.

To prepare for the event, parking conditions will change in the area, and Fleet Street will be closed from Monday 12 January, reopening on 21 January. Traffic management measures and Variable Message Boards will be in place to help guide motorists to help minimise disruption.

Visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transport where possible and allow extra time when travelling in and around Fremantle during this period.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we get ready to welcome SailGP to Fremantle.
