Would you like to find out more about the migration stories of your Italian ancestors?
Join Dr Kellie Abbott from National Archives of Australia to discover what treasures you may find in the national archival collection. National Archives holds records documenting 20th century migration and migrants, from passenger lists for ships arriving in Fremantle to applications to become Australian citizens.
In this presentation, Kellie will explain how to search the national archival collection and view original or digitised records about your family from Italy or elsewhere – your nonna, nonno, oma, baba or even yourself.
Along the way she’ll share photographs, documents and stories that highlight the struggles, joys and resilience of Italian women and their families who built new lives in Western Australia.
