Ana Hara

Technical Officer (Crustacea Section), Aquatic Zoology

Qualifications

BSc., MSc.

Ana Hara has joined the Aquatic Zoology team in 2012. She was previously involved in a large-scale marine biodiversity survey of the Brazilian coast and in research of pinnipeds in Western Australia (completing a Master’s degree investigating New Zealand fur seal ecology). Ana is now responsible for the day-to-day management of the State’s Crustacea and worms collections and associated databases. She is a keen participant in field trips, helping to explore and describe the marine biodiversity of crustacea and worms in Western Australia. This has taken her on several collecting trips, from the Kimberley to the deep-seas of the South Coast, Gascoyne and Indian Ocean Territories. She also contributes to collection-based research, services to industry (such as area searches), public outreach and educational programs.
