Explore Ocean Science and Art with our hands on program!

Ever wondered what makes a squid such an incredible ocean survivor? Step into the role of a marine scientist and investigate one of the sea's most fascinating creatures through a hands-on workshop combining biology, creativity and technology.

Examine the anatomy of a squid during a guided dissection, then use genuine squid ink to create your own ocean-inspired artwork. Finish the day by tackling coding challenges with Ozobots as you program your robot to complete a squid-inspired mission.

Your scientific toolkit

We use only high-quality specimens from ethical suppliers. All tools and materials are used under expert guidance and include:

• Ethically sourced squid (thawed for use)
• Dissecting trays, tweezers, wooden sticks and scissors
• Safety glasses, latex-free gloves and surgical masks
• Small glass jars, digital microscopes and petri dishes

We'll supply everything, you need just bring your lunch and a drink bottle.

Drop and Leave Holiday Programs

Drop and leave programs enable children and young people to experience the Museum independently, discover and learn something new in an area of interest and access materials and resources that would not normally be available at home. All programs are managed and monitored by our experienced Learning and Engagement staff.
