A creative workshop for curious makers
In this hands-on school holiday workshop, you'll explore how artists draw inspiration from the natural world, sparking ideas for your own unique creations.
Begin your journey in the Museum's galleries, then under gentle instruction and your own creative instincts, you'll create two purposeful pieces:
- A natural-inspired string art masterpiece - woven with nails, thread and wood
- A handmade bee hotel - a welcoming haven for nature's superheroes
This workshop is perfect for kids who love to make, build, and explore.
What to expect
- Discover the art of string design and geometric patterns
- Create your own string art piece
- Learn about the fascinating world of bees
- Build a DIY bee hotel for the garden
Tools and materials (used under care and guidance)
- Hand tools: Hammer, nails, hand drills, hack saw, screwdrivers and tabletop vice
- Protective equipment: Safety glasses, latex-free gloves, protective aprons and dust masks
- Materials: Plywood, pine, bamboo and PVA wood glue
All you need to bring is your lunch and water bottle - we'll provide everything else.
Drop and Leave Holiday Programs
Drop and leave programs enable children and young people to experience the Museum independently, discover and learn something new in an area of interest and access materials and resources that would not normally be available at home. All programs are managed and monitored by our experienced Learning and Engagement staff.
