Carnotaurus sastrei was a lightly built, 8-metre-long theropod dinosaur that roamed the Chubut Province of Argentina during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 million years ago.
The most distinguishing feature of Carnotaurus was the bull-like horns above the eyes; the name Carnotaurus means “meat-eating bull.” In life these horns would have been extended by a layer of keratin, the same substance your fingernails are made of.
