A 120 million-year-old rock layer near Kalbarri contains isolated bones and partial skeletons of large and extinct marine reptiles.

Let Dr Mikael Siversson introduce you to the world of ichthyosaurs and the three types of plesiosaurs: long-necked elasmosaurs, leptocleidids and giant pliosaurs.

Mikael is the Museum’s Head of Earth and Planetary Sciences and a leading expert in fossils of lamniform sharks from the Cretaceous period.

His current work focuses on fossils of sixgill and sevengill sharks and a new type of horned dinosaur from Cretaceous deposits in Sweden.
