Do you like to dissect things? Aspiring to be a dissection detective? This is the workshop for you!
Join us for an exciting hands-on experience where you’ll dive into the fascinating worlds of squid and owls. Through dissection, you’ll learn about these amazing creatures, their unique features and their biology.
You’ll also get to use squid ink to create your own piece of art, blending science and creativity!
During this workshop, you will:
- Develop skills in observation, critical thinking, and attention to detail
- Carefully and respectfully dissect a squid and an owl pellet under guidance
- Discuss how science and art help us understand the natural world
- Use squid ink to create a piece of artwork to take home
- Prepare the contents of owl pellets (small bones) to take home
Workshop Details
We use only high-quality specimens from ethical suppliers. Tools and materials are used under strict guidance and include:
- Thawed squid
- Sanitised owl pellets
- Dissecting trays
- Tweezers, wooden sticks and scissors
- Safety glasses, latex-free gloves and surgical masks
- Small glass jars, digital microscopes and Petri dishes
