Take a step back to the ‘cold time’, the Nyitting, and explore the creation of everything.

Natural features of the land, as well as phenomenon like the stars, planets and universe, are part of deep knowledge derived from Nyoongar oral histories of the Nyitting (Dreaming).

Students will be immersed through story, movement and access to real objects and artifacts developed in consultation with the Traditional Owners from across WA.

Student experience

Students will

  • Explore the Nyoongar Nyitting (Dreaming)
  • Identify elements of the daytime and nighttime skies, using Nyoongar language to describe the elements they encounter
  • Put their language skills to the test with a game of SNAP!
  • Recognise the diversity among Aboriginal cultures and creation stories within Western Australia

Program feedback

“Great for students to be exposed in greater detail to traditional stories and being able to learn new words.”
