During the Late Triassic period, approximately 230 million years ago, Eoraptor lunensis, a metre-long omnivorous biped roamed what is now northwestern Argentina.

Eoraptor was one of the earliest dinosaurs and lived at a time when the major divisions within dinosaur groups had only just differentiated.
