The 2025 Guzheng Festival brings together more than 100 performers from Perth and Sydney.
Join us for a musical experience that celebrates the ancient Chinese zither, a plucked string instrument with over 2,500 years of history.
The guzheng’s expressive tones and distinctive melodious timbre point to its deep cultural significance. It is not just an instrument but also a symbol of Chinese heritage and musical traditions. First popularised in the Qin dynasty, the guzheng has been used to play solemn classical music, cheerful folk tunes and more contemporary pieces.
The Guzheng Grand Ensemble is organised by the Chung Wah Association working in collaboration with Methodist Ladies' College, Perth Huaxing Arts Group Inc., Australian-Chinese Musicians Association, the Western Australia Guzheng Academy, Zing Music Studio and WA Museum Boola Bardip.
Proudly supported by Christ Church Grammar School, Hale School, Kennedy Baptist College, Oberthur Primary School, Presbyterian Ladies' College, Chung Wah Chinese School Leeming, Spring Melody Studio and Western Australian Guzheng Ensemble and the Office of Multicultural Interests.
