Celebrated each year on June 16, World Sea Turtle Day highlights these remarkable ocean navigators, known for travelling vast distances between feeding grounds and nesting beaches.

Join Tristan Simpson and Clodagh Guildea from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions' North West Shelf Flatback Turtle Conservation Program as they share 14 years of research on the flatback turtle, a species found only in Australian waters—covering its biology, population trends in Western Australia, and the growing pressures from coastal development and climate change.

Come along and be part of the conversation, ask questions, and discover how science is helping to protect and conserve one of Australia’s most unique and remarkable marine species.

Meet the Museum

Are you curious about the fascinating world behind the scenes at the Museum? This monthly program delves into the less visible parts of the Museum’s work, as scientists, researchers, historians and curators share their expertise and passions.
