Marvel at the intricate botanical works of award winning artist Jane Li.

Spirit of the Brush, Heart of the Land includes 18 of Jane Li's exquisite water colour artworks featuring Western Australian flora and fauna. Jane Li uses traditional Chinese techniques to paint the nature which touches her heart.

Jane Li's exhibition is currently displayed at Epoch Cafe located within the WA Museum Boola Bardip.

About the Artist

Jane Li is a painter and a photographer. She was trained as an artist in China, having studied in art schools in China with private teachers. When she moved to Australia she fell in love with the beautiful native flora and fauna. In 2015 Jane was trained as a Kings Park volunteer guide. The knowledge she gained about native plants helped to understand the plants and gave her inspiration. She started to draw them to help her remember the botanical name and make her guided talks more interesting.

"Art heals my soul and connects me to nature," Jane said. She loves nature and travels a lot, where she gains inspiration and motivation. Her photography helps to inspire her artwork.

She has held four solo exhibitions in Australia and many joint exhibitions. Jane's work has been exhibited in France and Poland at international exhibitions. Jane painted the self-guided wildflower walk signs for Kwinana Wildflower Reserve. Her workshops are very popular especially her special bird painting workshops. She has won many awards. Her painting "Soul of the Forest" (a red tail cockatoo with Marri nuts) won the first prize in the general category and the Sponsor's Choice Award at WA water colour annual award exhibitions in 2019. Painting of "Taste of Summer" won the highly commended at Cossack Art Award in the flora and fauna category 2021. Painting of Red-tailed cockatoo won Recognition in the top fifty at Global Connection Exhibition France and Poland 2022.
