The evening features a stunning runway show, highlighting the latest creations from Peter Farmer Designs. After the show, join a thought-provoking panel discussion with leading voices in Western Australian design as we explore the question:

"What makes design uniquely Western Australian?"

Claire Tyrell | Senior Journalist, Business News

Journalist and design champion Claire Tyrrell studied at Edith Cowan University, where she graduated with a double degree in English and Journalism in 2009. She began her career working at regional newspapers before moving to The West Australian in 2013. She joined Business News in 2021, covering the property sector. Clare was awarded Best Newcomer to Rural Journalism in 2013, and in 2023 won an Alliance Area of Business Publishers award.

Adrian Fini OAM has a legacy of delivering progressive and innovative developments through Fini Group and FJM Property. His developments have changed the face of modern Perth - most prominently through the restoration and repurposing of the iconic State Buildings complex and the rejuvenation of the Leederville Town Centre. Adrian has received a number of prestigious awards recognising his many achievements including an Order of Australia for his contribution to the arts, and Western Australian of the Year – for his contribution towards shaping a better, contemporary city of Perth.

Ara Salomone | Director, State of Kin

Ara Salomone is co-founder of State of Kin. An award winning architect with 20 years of experience working on commercial and residential buildings of varying scales, her design approach balances creative vision with an expert command of practical ele­ments to produce confident and unexpected outcomes. In 2024 Ara was the only Western Australian architect listed in Vogue Living’s best designers, architects, landscapers and artists of the year.

Jody D’Arcy is the Founder and Editor of Havenist. A highly skilled and well-established photographer, she is experienced in creating editorial and commercial imagery for magazines, brands, companies and creatives. Her work traverses the fine art space. Jody specialises in considered, styled interiors and architecture. She is passionate about design and has an eye for an uncomplicated and fresh aesthetic

Mark Braddock | Co-Founder, Block

Mark Braddock is a naturally gifted creative. After representing Australia at Cannes Young Lions, he held senior roles handling major accounts at Ogilvy New York and The Martin Agency. After returning to Perth, he founded Block with his partner Tanya and turned it into one of Australia’s leading brand-first agencies. Block is a place where creativity can unleash real positive change for clients, consumers, and the world.

Peter Farmer is a world-renowned contemporary Indigenous artist. Together he and his wife Miranda run Peter Farmer Designs. A proud Noongar artist, Peter believes it's crucial that his art aligns with the client's values and conveys their narrative because the connection works when the artist's story resonates with the company's brand. Peter Farmer Designs has collaborated with local names like WA Museum, Western Force, Elizabeth Quay, The City of Perth and international brands Jimmy Choo and Coldplay.

Design Week Launch Miranda Farmer

Miranda Farmer runs Peter Farmer Designs with her husband. Miranda has spent almost two decades promoting and supporting Aboriginal Artists in Western Australia, seeking to protect their basic human rights, copyright and intellectual copyright. Miranda’s aim is to promote the planet’s oldest continuous culture, as it evolves and adapts in this ever changing & fast moving global society.

 

Peter Lee | Principal, Hassell

Peter Lee OAM has shaped Perth’s skyline through a number of city-defining projects including Brookfield Place and Optus Stadium. He is adjunct professor at Curtin University, co-leader of the Residential sector at Hassell, and serves on the board of several Western Australian organisations supporting art and culture, affordable housing and sustainability. Peter has received a number of prestigious awards recognising his many achievements including an Order of Australia Medal for service to community housing initiatives and architecture.
