Join us these school holidays as our Activity Corner transforms into a haven for camels and cameleers.

Get ready for a fun-filled adventure featuring activities related to camels and their rich history. From meeting Naqa, the giant camel puppet, to crafting camel bells and building 3D camels, there's something for every young explorer to enjoy!

School holidays activities

Camels & Cameleers | Free

Named after an Arabic word for ‘female camel,’ we are hosting Naqa, the giant camel puppet! Come and admire Naqa’s beautiful long lashes and soft nose. Luckily, she just loves to be photographed with adoring camel fans!

Trail: Mirage hunters | $1 per trail

Desert mirages are optical illusions that famously distort the appearance of distant objects and can even make desert sand look like a lake! Can you identify these objects from the Museum through the ‘mirage’ distortion effect?

Camel bell craft | $2

For thousands of years, bells have allowed people to locate camels in even the densest scrub. More decorative camel saddlery often features beads, patterned blankets, and tassels, too! With this creative activity, you can make your own bracelet or decoration inspired by camel chic.

3D Camel build | $1

Relax at the WA Museum's camel craft tables, where kids and adults can pop out their camel pieces, decorate them, and create their own 3D camel. Designed by local graphic designer Simone Ericson, these camels are sure to delight kids of all ages—don’t forget to give your camel a name!

Participants aged 12 and under must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian.
All required materials are provided.
