Discover the meaning behind Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), explore the rich flavours of Mexican cuisine, learn about the incredible Monarch butterfly migration, and uncover the fascinating history of the beloved Piñata.

Please note: Due to the exhibition Albany Then & Now: Panoramas of Menang Boodja exhibition and Hub Zone in the Eclipse Building, the Discovery Centre has temporarily relocated to the Co-Op Building.
School holidays activities
Mexican themed plasters | $2 - $5
Use your creative flair and vibrant colours to paint a butterfly, flowers, or a skull.
Stained glass creations | $3
Using stained glass effects, paint a Mexican themed template to create a stunning art piece that will brighten any window or mirror.
Masks | $4
Choose between a Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) or Luchador (Mexican wrestler) mask and decorate it to bring out your personality!

Hand paint a Day of the Dead planter with sugar skull art for your a charming baby cactus.
Cocinar La Comida! Mexican Cooking Workshop | $12

In this hands-on cooking session, whip up cheesy quesadillas, a tangy guacamole dip with corn chips, and finish with a festive piñata cupcake.

Explore self-expression through mixed media on canvas using Frida Kahlo's iconic face as inspiration.
Participants aged 12 and under must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian.
