Discover the art of visual storytelling from a bird’s-eye view!

Step into the world of visual storytelling and design your own eye-catching flat lay artwork.

In this creative studio experience, kids will arrange special objects from the Museum alongside their own small treasures from home to create beautifully styled “flat lay” scenes. Working from a bird’s-eye view, participants will experiment with colour, balance and composition before photographing their creation like mini stylists.

Using a mix of historical objects, replicas, and natural and man-made materials, children (and adults!) will discover how images can tell powerful stories without using a single word. Each group will print their favourite photograph to take home, along with a digital copy of their design and a fresh perspective on Albany’s layered history.
