Discover the story of Albany’s rich maritime history and one of its most treasured vessels, the Wildflower

Join Lawrence Cuthbert, Project Manager of the Wildflower restoration project, as he recounts the boat’s remarkable connection to Albany and the people who worked the waters of the Princess Royal Harbour, Oyster Harbours and King George Sound.

Built in the 1890s and listed on the National Register of Historic Vessels, the Wildflower is believed to be one of Australia’s longest continuously fished vessels. Owned and operated by three generations of the Mouchemore family, the boat has been a familiar sight in Albany for more than a century.

Learn about the ongoing efforts to restore this important piece of maritime heritage and the role it continues to play in preserving Albany’s seafaring past.

Presented by Lawrence Cuthbert, Board Member of the Albany Maritime Foundation and Project Manager of the Wildflower restoration project.
