Take a closer look at some of our insect and arachnid specimens using our powerful digital microeye.
What shapes and structures can you see on these mini beasts?
Did you know that insects make up over 80% of the terrestrial species on Earth and we need them! Insects include bees, ants, butterflies, grasshoppers, and beetles, among many others. Whether they crawl, fly, squirm, or slither, insects get the job done: they maintain healthy soil, recycle nutrients, pollinate flowers and crops, and control pests.
While at the Museum, continue to learn more about insects and visit Sixteen Legs an exhibition that takes you into a world of mystery and darkness, where some of Australia’s strangest ancient creatures still survive unseen.
