This milestone surpasses the previous record of 173,041 set by Dinosaur Discovery in 2014, and with three months still to go, that number is only set to grow. Incredibly, almost a quarter of visitors have even travelled from interstate or overseas to see the iconic Warriors up close!
At Boola Bardip, people have been discovering the exhibition in all kinds of ways.
Jade Nights has opened the galleries up after dark with live performances adding to the atmosphere. Meanwhile Oo-long Conversations has invited visitors to slow down over a cup of tea, while Quiet Mornings have offered a sensory-friendly way to explore. Families have also joined the fun through Warrior World: Family Sundays, where kids can get hands on with history.
Beyond the Museum’s walls the art installation, Lanterns of Terracotta Warriors has been lighting up Forrest Place each and every night. And, although the installation has now wrapped up there, the lanterns will soon be popping up in other locations across the city!
The success of this exhibition reflects years of collaboration between the Western Australian Museum and colleagues from Shaanxi Cultural Heritage Promotion Centre and the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, who have allowed these ancient figures to share their story with WA audiences.
Thank you to everyone who has visited, shared and celebrated with us so far. If you haven’t yet joined them, there’s still time to visit before the warriors return home. And if you have, come again! There are still plenty of new ways to explore.
