The Western Australian Maritime Museum played host to a Spouse and Partner Program luncheon, as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) events held in Perth in late October.
The luncheon, hosted by Mr Tim Mathieson, partner to Prime Minister Gillard, was held in the WA Maritime Museum Function Centre and Balcony.
Guests were greeted by Western Australian Museum, Chief Executive Officer, Mr Alec Coles, before posing for a group photograph at the aptly named ‘Welcome Walls’.
The Welcome Walls, completed in December 2010, display more than 21,000 inscribed names, paying tribute to some 45,000 immigrants to Western Australia and are a fitting introduction to the Maritime Museum.
The Function Centre, where the luncheon was hosted, has glass walls to the north which open onto a balcony where guests enjoyed uninterrupted views of Fremantle Harbour and the Indian Ocean.
Over 30 delegates were entertained by Australian Singer Russell Morris, before enjoying an exquisite meal from Heyder & Shears Exclusive Catering.
The WA Museum’s Director of Commercial Operations, Jason Fair said he was pleased that the Spouse/Partner program included a luncheon at one of the Museum’s premier function spaces.
“The Function Centre and Balcony is truly an amazing space and a highly sought after venue, catering for up to 200 guests,” he said.
“The WA Museum is very popular for corporate functions, weddings, conferences, dinners and cocktail parties, and is a unique alternative to traditional hotels and function centres.”
