Congratulations Dr. Harry Butler

The honours and recognition keep coming for WA Museum Fellow and naturalist Dr. Harry Butler.

On Monday 11 June 2012, Dr. Butler was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

This achievement follows on from Dr. Butler’s recent appointment as a National Living Treasure (March 2012) and reinforces the contribution that he has made to the conservation and restoration of Australia’s environment over the past 50 years.

The Western Australian Museum has enjoyed a long association with Dr. Butler as a Fellow and long-time supporter of the Museum. Dr Butler has generously lent his name and his time to present talks around the State as part of the WA Museum’s Harry Butler Lecture Series – In the Wild West, now in its third successful year.

Dr. Butler will present on his experience with field collecting in some of the State’s most remote locations as part of the 2012 In The Wild West season. His lecture entitled Museum collectors and carers: one collector’s story will be presented in Karratha on 25 July 2012 and Albany on 15 November.

The WA Museum congratulates Dr Harry Butler and thanks him for his considerable contribution and support of the Museum and the Western Australian environment.
