Opening Monday 16 March 2026 and closing Sunday 7 June, the Albany Then & Now Photography Competition invited photographers of all ages and abilities to submit an original image that captured the spirit, history, and changing landscapes of Albany.
The Competition was broken into four photographic categories, with entrants submitting their work as either a Landscape, Aerial, Portrait or Artistic image. Alongside these categories, the entrants were judged based on age group, which included primary school students (ages 5-12), high school students (ages 13-17), and adults (ages 18+).
The Photography Competition ran as part of the Museum of the Great Southern’s exhibition, Albany Then & Now: Historical Panoramas of Menang Noongar Boodja, which closed on Sunday 7 June. As a component of Albany 2026, this exhibition explored Albany both past and present, showcasing the region’s ever-changing landscape.
