Big news for culture lovers! The 2025–26 Emerging Curators Program has officially begun, and what a start it’s been. Earlier this November, four incredible participants packed their bags and headed to Perth for a two-week deep dive into the world of museums, exhibitions, and storytelling.
They have since completed their Perth intensive, marking the first step in their year-long journey as part of the program.
Every exhibition begins with a voice, and these four curators are ready to share stories that matter:
- Cameron Gravestock brings the bush into the gallery. With roots in Goreng, Wilman, and Ballardong country, his love for painting and traditional craft reflects a deep connection to Country and culture.
- Kamryn Sheppard paints bold visions of identity. A practicing artist from Mount Barker, her award-winning works speak of creativity, resilience, and cultural pride.
- Shawn Colbung leads with purpose. As CEO of Binalup Aboriginal Corporation, he champions cultural and environmental programs that strengthen Noongar knowledge and create opportunities for future generations.
- Narelle Miniter turns ideas into action. Born in Gnowangerup and now based in Albany, she combines strong organisational skills with a passion for storytelling and community engagement.
Together, they represent a powerful blend of creativity, leadership, and cultural knowledge, shaping exhibitions that will inspire and connect communities across Western Australia.
The Perth intensive was just the beginning. Over the coming months, these emerging curators will roll up their sleeves for placements, community projects, and collaborative exhibitions. Their mission is to bring Aboriginal voices and stories to the forefront in ways that inspire and connect us all.
Follow along as they turn ideas into experiences that celebrate culture, Country, and community. This is going to be an exciting ride.
