Fun in the Parlour!

The Western Australian Museum – Kalgoorlie-Boulder will be full of fun activities these school holidays as it uncovers what life would be like living in the early 1900s, sets a puzzle trail to discover and teaches kids how to draw cartoons.

Fun in the Parlour

Children will be able to see what it would be like to have Fun in the Parlour whilst living in a fancy house around 1900. The parlour was the best room in the house and you would have to be on your very best behaviour. We will start off with a very proper morning tea then you might like to start to sew your very own book mark. You might also like to dress up and we will have “pinnies” for you to borrow to help you feel the part.

AGES: 6 – 12 years
COST: $10 per activity (includes morning tea and sewing materials)
WHEN: Activities between 10.30am and 12.00noon (week days only), 11 – 22 July 2011

The Puzzle Trail

Explore the Museum and go on the Puzzle Trail. Can you build a truck out of recycled material? Can you put the puzzle together? Can you solve the other puzzles to help Dennis the Fire truck to put out the fire?

AGES: 4 – 12 years
COST: $5 for puzzle book, $6.50 for puzzle book and morning tea
WHEN: Activities between 10.00am and 4.30pm (week days only), 11 – 22 July 2011

Creating Cartoons

Join Michelle Warren to learn to draw cartoons just like the ones you see in the paper every day. Creating Cartoons will reveal how cartoonists make their illustrations look so real but so funny.

COST: $15 per child
WHEN: Tuesday and Thursday 1:00pm – 3:00pm, 11 – 22 July 2011
