The Western Australian Museum is pleased to have once again worked with Disney+ and Fremantle’s VAM Media on Shipwreck Hunters Australia Season 2 which premiered on 27 August.
The new series follows the Shipwreck Hunters Australia team as they search for more shipwrecks along the coast of Western Australia.
The Museum provided maritime archaeological expertise both on camera and behind the scenes, helping to find and tell the stories of some of Western Australia’s most fascinating shipwrecks.
The Western Australian Museum’s Maritime Heritage Department has more than 50 years of experience in maritime archaeological fieldwork and research.
Its contribution to Shipwreck Hunters Australia Season 2, was again led by archaeologists Dr Deb Shefi and Dr Ross Anderson.
The series can be watched exclusively on the Disney+ online streaming service.
Shipwreck Hunters Australia Season 2 is a co-production between VAM Media, Terra Australis Productions and Barking Mad Productions for Disney+, and has received major production investment from Screen Australia.
It was financed in association with Screenwest, Lotterywest, the Western Australian Regional Screen Fund and Tourism Western Australia, with expert assistance from the Western Australian Museum.
The series was also developed with the assistance of Screen Australia, Screenwest and Lotterywest.
The series is directed and produced by VAM Media’s Brendan Hutchens (Shipwreck Hunters Australia, Drawn to Water, Walking Man), together with series producer Russell Vines (Ningaloo: Australia’s Other Great Reef, The Waler: Australia’s Great War Horse, Australia’s Sleep Revolution with Dr Michael Mosley) and executive producer Steve Bibb (Shipwreck Hunters Australia, Inside the Sydney Opera House, Matildas: The World at Our Feet).
