Dive into the Western Australian Museum - Perth during the October holidays and delight in the beautiful and strange animals living under the sea! Get crafty with different sea animals - you might find a jiggling sea jelly, a fun fish kite or you can ‘create-a-crab’ from modeling clay. Join local artists to make a large and colourful ‘Recycled Reef’ and some fantastic reef creatures to hide in it, using fun, pre-loved materials. Take a marine journey with your underwater eyes with our new ‘Goggle It’ discovery trail; or find extraordinary sea creatures in the Dampier Marine Gallery and enjoy new interactive activities like cool creature puppets, the ‘Explore-a-claw’ crab challenge and touch-and-feel sea creatures.

After a sold-out season at the Western Australian Museum – Perth, where almost 20,000 people saw the show, Erth’s Dinosaur Petting Zoo will head port-side to the WA Maritime Museum in Fremantle for a roarsome encore season from October 1 - 14, 2012.
Dinosaur Petting Zoo is a captivating theatre performance featuring a cast of scientifically accurate, large-scale Australian dinosaur puppets. Included in the show is the carnivorous Australovenator (meaning southern hunter) discovered in Queensland, and a plant-eating Titanosaur who, at up to 50 tonnes in weight and 30 metres long, are the heaviest creatures to have walked the Earth.
Prehistoric Predators

Sail through the Shipwreck Galleries in search of strange and mysterious beasts of the deep. Set out on ‘A Monster Mission’ with our exciting new activity trail, and then decorate some mythical creatures of your own with our ‘Mermaid, Amphibaman, Dugong, Dolphin’ foam craft activity.

The Friendship Corner at the WA Museum – Geraldton Discovery Centre will be a place of activity, discovery and lots of fun for children and families this school holiday period. ‘Say G’day the International Way’ by learning the word hello in several different languages; play a giant game of tic tac toe, hide and seek and a thong-a-phone; make a link in the friendship chain; hit the stage and put on a show with six colourful finger puppets from around the world; or explore the dress-up box to see who you can become.
Special activities are also on offer - make a traditional Woolly Dolly in the ‘Making Friends’ activity (October 3, 10 at 1pm; October 9 at 10:30am); take part in ‘Footy Fanatics’ and join up with a friend to make your own football game (October 3 at 1pm); or play the traditional games played by the Yamaji (Aboriginal people of the Murchison and Gascoyne regions of WA) children in ‘Play the Game’ (October 3 at 1pm).

The WA Museum - Albany will be in a whirl these October school holidays in celebration of the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All. Join us as we take a look at ways we can help create a sustainable future through simple innovations and practices.
‘Westerlies, Windmills and Whirligigs’ is a series of hands-on, fun activities and workshops exploring how wind is formed and how it can be harnessed to produce sustainable energy.
In the special $7 10:30am activities, each weekday offers something different to do. Make a sail boat in ‘Wind in your Sails’ on Monday; make a table-top wind turbine in ‘Tumbling Turbines’ on Tuesday; create a kite in ‘Blowing in the Wind’ on Wednesday; make your own glider in ‘Hover, Glide and Spin’ on Thursday; and join us for a special trip to the Albany Wind Farm on Friday!
