Fremantle Inner Harbour will play a central part in the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships, as home to the course for the Women’s Match Racing competition.
For 14 of the 16 days of the World Championships, there will be racing on the Harbour Course, providing spectators with prime viewing opportunities from the wharf on the Southern side of Victoria Quay.
There will be no better place to enjoy the Women’s Match Racing in terms of hospitality than the Western Australian Museum – Maritime and it is with pleasure that Perth 2011 announces the formalisation of a partnership agreement with the Museum.
Perth 2011 Chief Operating Officer Darren Beazley says that the WA Museum - Maritime will offer some exciting corporate hospitality options for the World Championships.
“The WA Museum – Maritime has been a great supporter of Perth 2011 so far, and we look forward to continuing to work with them to host a great Sailing World Championships,” Beazley said.
“The WA Museum - Maritime is in an excellent spot for viewing the racing, and will continue to provide a great link to our rich maritime history, for visitors to Western Australia.”
Director of Commercial Operations at the WA Maritime Museum Jason Fair says the Museum is pleased to be on board.
“The Western Australian Maritime Museum is delighted to be partnering with the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships,” Fair said.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer one of the best views, capturing all the action of the Women’s Match Racing World Championship from our dedicated function centre and balcony.
“The Museum’s unique location overlooking Fremantle Harbour provides guests with uninterrupted views of the racing on the Harbour Course, whilst enjoying the stylish ambiance of one of Western Australia’s world class tourist attractions.
“Before and after the races you can enjoy all the Museum has to offer. Enjoy the stunning collections of sailing and maritime displays including the winning America's Cup yacht, Australia II, an Oberon class submarine — HMAS Ovens, Jon Sanders’ Parry Endeavour and many other iconic vessels from WA's maritime history.”
The Museum is within walking distance of the Fremantle train station and is well serviced by the free Fremantle Cat bus allowing for easy access to the Museum for visitors and guests. Paid parking is available directly outside the Museum with additional parking throughout Victoria Quay.
