A “fluffy” crab and its stylish accessory

Lamarckdromia beagle uses its claws to trim sea sponges and ascidians, which it wears as protective hats to camouflage against predators like octopuses. It’s like that favourite wardrobe piece you keep reaching for—but this one’s not just for show.

A female echidna and its trail of males

Echidna courtship takes perfect pairs to a whole new level. During their breeding season, male echidnas form orderly lines behind a female, all hoping to be the last one standing. Sometimes, you’ll see up to five echidnas chugging along in search of love, until one suitor reigns supreme.

This diamond duo is the definition of a true best friend

Some say yellow and pink diamonds make the perfect pair—if you can afford them! WA is home to both: yellow diamonds from the Ellendale region in the West Kimberley and the famous pink diamonds of the Argyle mine in the East Kimberley. Come admire this dazzling duo at our Origins Gallery.
