Join video maestro Tania Vision as she cranks the handle on the time machine for a Blockbuster video event!

Before the days of on demand streaming services, people would rush to the video shop to rent out a movie. Take a journey back to the 80s before the digital revolution when special FX featured REAL explosions, REAL fake blood and REAL prosthetics!

Our fearless screen curator has mined the back catalogue for VHS gold and will share some of the weird and wonderful, cool and crazy moments of 80s video culture*.

Take notes from the style file back when shorts were short, hair was BIG and double denim was a must. Dust off your shoulder pads and get ready for some fun with popular AND obscure gems from the VHS archives.

Brace yourself for an interactive quiz show that will test your cinematic chops faster than you can say “G’Day, Bruce!” We’re serving up a full-on feast of Aussie 80s classics with thick juicy slices of cinematic magic that’ll have you feeling more pumped than Olivia Newton-John in a jazzercize class.

This session will include an entertaining showcase of video shorts, accompanied by an interactive quiz show.

Arrive early to explore the Australia II: 40 Years On exhibition at your leisure before the screenings begin.

18+ event. Cash bar available to 9:30pm. Popcorn and snack bar available.

*Note for the VHS purists: This event will show material sourced from VHS video in a digital format on the night.
