Call for Expressions of Interest - Fremantle Museums Advisory Committee
The Western Australian Museum is seeking expressions of interest to join the Fremantle Museums Advisory Committee.
About the role
The Committee provides advice, insight and community perspectives to help inform the Museum’s work. Members act as a two-way link between the Museum and the community—sharing community views with the Museum and championing the Museum within their networks. The Committee plays an important advisory role, offering perspectives and recommendations to inform the Museum’s work, while strategic direction and governance remain the responsibility of the WA Museum Board of Trustees and operational decisions remain with Museum management.
We are looking for curious, collaborative people who can bring fresh thinking, diverse perspectives and lived experience to the conversation. You may have knowledge or experience in tourism, history and cultural heritage, marine biodiversity, shipwrecks, education, community engagement, digital innovation, or creative and digital storytelling. Most importantly, you will be enthusiastic about helping the Museum deliver its new strategy and connect its collections and stories with broader audiences.
The Advisory Committee meets two to four times each year to share perspectives and consider matters relevant to the Fremantle Museums. Membership is voluntary and non-remunerated.
Vacancy
There are a number of committee member positions available. Appointment of members is for a period of four years from approval by the WA Museum Board of Trustees. Members may serve a maximum of three consecutive terms (12 years in total).
Appointments are subject to approval by the WA Museum Board of Trustees and the satisfactory completion of the Museum's appointment requirements, including a National Police Clearance and acknowledgement of the WA Museum Advisory Committee Code of Conduct and relevant policies.
The WA Museum welcomes applications from people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We strongly encourage expressions of interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability and representatives of disability communities, young people, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. The Museum seeks to ensure its advisory committees reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.
