The incredible true story of the most daring and audacious prison break in Australia’s history, where six Fenian prisoners were rescued from Fremantle Prison.

In THEATRE 180’s latest CinePlay production, CATALPA: Flight to Freedom you will be taken back to 1876 through the dramatic and gripping tale of a prison break two years in the planning. Involving espionage, secret letters, undercover operatives, a love affair, a desperate boat chase and the threat of war against the might of America, this production has all the hallmarks of a major Hollywood movie and all the heart of an Irish ballad.

Exploring themes of bold ideas, daring action and belief in the value of political free-will, CATALPA: Flight to Freedom will capture your attention with its cast of thousands and epic landscapes from the high seas to 19th century Western Australia, all while telling the story of a time when Fremantle Prison was known as a ‘living tomb’ and these freedom fighters were seeking independence from centuries of crippling British rule.

Featuring Myles Pollard, Tadhg Lawrence and Taran Knight.
