Join us for a free social crafternoon upcycling ghost nets into art as we celebrate Sea Week on Clean Up Australia Day!
Ghost nets are rogue plastic fishing net materials that are retrieved from the marine environment as waste by conservation groups and made available to transform into creative projects. Inspired by the Ghost Nets Collective and their superb artwork on show in the Museum's WA Down Under gallery, we welcome you to take time out of your day and help craft marine art from recycled marine plastics.
Come along to an enjoyable afternoon of craft, music and chat as we take some time on Clean Up Australia Day to transform plastic waste into creative outcomes. Crafting from ghost nets is a gradual process … let’s make it enjoyable!
Basic sewing skills will be required for this workshop, especially patience. This is not a process that is suitable for most children, as it is a slow burn with only very gradual outcomes. Children over 10 years are welcome and will need an accompanying adult for guidance and assistance.
