Come and celebrate the magnificent Martuwarra Fitzroy River, the lifeblood of Western Australia's Kimberley region, at the Martuwarra Fitzroy River Film Festival.
This event offers an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and significance of this National Heritage-listed treasure, as well as engage in conversations about preserving one of Australia's last healthy, free-flowing rivers.
Organized by The Kimberley Like Nowhere Else, The Kimberley Land Council, The Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council, Environs Kimberley, and WA Museum, the festival will showcase Voices of the River, a captivating documentary series that highlights the inspiring and compelling views of Traditional Owners from the Martuwarra Fitzroy River. These individuals are working tirelessly to safeguard the river from large-scale water extraction.
Check out the trailer for the Voices of the River series to get a sneak peek of what's in store here.
In addition to the documentary series, the Martuwarra Fitzroy River Film Festival will also feature an array of short films contributed by community members, Aboriginal rangers, scientists, and recreational fishers, along with warnings from people from the Murray-Darling region who are banding together to protect the Martuwarra. Come and be part of this fantastic event.
