Join the creator of the Naval Sea Power in Miniature exhibition as he launches a new publication that celebrates the range and variety of spectacular models that he has crafted.
Gerry Westenberg has dedicated enormous time and expertise in refining his approach to model-making, expressed in the intricate details and craftsmanship of these miniature naval vessels. He has created incredible miniature ship models in a modelling career spanning over 50 years.
Join Gerry as he launches his fourth book titled Modelling Ships (Melbourne Print, 2026) illustrating these model-making skills, which complements his new exhibition now on show at the WA Maritime Museum.
Gerry’s output of models is prodigious, his fourth exhibition features over 170 models, all hand crafted and to the same 1:192 scale (with the exception of the models linked to Disney+ Shipwreck Hunters). Many of the models in this new book are of the lesser known Royal Australian Navy ships, an example of which is the Centaur, the hospital ship that was torpedoed and sunk by Japanese naval forces in 1943.
Discover the stories behind the meticulously constructed warships, their historical significance, and the passion that drove the Gerry to bring them to life.
Light refreshments will be available.
