Curators from the Western Australian Museum will be visiting Gidgegannup and Wooroloo in March 2022 to record the stories of people affected by the Wooroloo bushfires through video interviews.

If you have a story you would like to share about the 2021 bushfires, your recovery, the environment or your local community, then we would appreciate hearing from you.

Record your story in your voice

We are hoping to record a wide range of stories: from people who experienced loss or damage to their properties, to firefighters, volunteers, and people who helped with evacuation and community recovery. All residents and businesses of Gidgegannup and Wooroloo, no matter how they were affected by the bushfires, are welcome to participate.

We understand that for many this may not be the right time while for others sharing may be part of the healing process. For those who are ready, this is your opportunity to tell your story from your viewpoint. We want to work with you to preserve it for the future.

On the day

  • We will set a camera up in the hall and help you to record your experience.
  • Recordings will be 5-15 minutes long.
  • You may want to bring along an item to talk about that reflects your experience.
  • There will be a copy for you (it may take a few days to upload) and a copy for the Museum to use in future research, publications and exhibitions.

Collecting objects
