Come and spend the day with deadly Nyoongar maaman local legend, Derek Nannup to explore Aboriginal knowledge systems in this full day program.

Through a number of hands-on activities learn first-hand about how all things are interconnected.

 During this workshop, participants will:

  • Collaborate in the construction of a life sized kalak (winter shelter) and make their own small-scale model to take home
  • Investigate a variety of Aboriginal  objects used to demonstrate the topic of flight.
  • Listen to The Dreamings that convey messages of Caring for Country and personal responsibility
  • Create a personal Boraanga (totem) to take home.

It’s going to be a full day of fun! Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and your lunch.

Drop and leave programs

Drop and leave programs enable juniors to experience the Museum independently, discover and learn something new in an area of interest and access materials and resources that would not normally be available at home. All programs are managed and monitored by our experienced Learning and Engagement staff.
