SeadragonSearch is a research project seeking to expand the understanding of wild seadragon populations.

Dr Nerida Wilson discusses how SeadragonSearch uses artificial intelligence tools to identify individual dragons from photos taken by community members. The resulting data will inform conservation policy for these charismatic fishes and their habitats.

Dr Nerida Wilson

Nerida is the Manager of the Western Australian Museum’s Molecular Systematics Unit. Her interests focus on understanding and describing the extent of biological diversity present on Earth. Although she is mostly obsessed with marine invertebrates such as sea slugs, she makes an exception for seadragons!
