Join celebrated ABC broadcaster and foreign correspondent Geoff Hutchison in conversation with fellow ABC broadcaster Nadia Mitsopoulos as they reflect on Geoff's debut book How Not to Become a Grumpy Old Bugger.
Geoff Hutchison reckons he met quite a few grumps during his time as an ABC broadcaster and, upon retirement, he was determined not to turn into one. How Not to Become a Grumpy Old Bugger ponders why so many blokes seem to struggle as they get older and offers some gentle (and not-so-gentle) advice on how they might lead happier and more fulfilling lives in a fast-changing world.
Geoff not only mines his own life experiences but also consults a wide range of experts and well-known personalities, including bestselling author Maggie Dent, philosopher Hugh Mackay and Fremantle Dockers captain Alex Pearce.
From men’s mental, sexual and physical health to finances and plans for retirement, social media and influencers, loneliness, regrets and — yes — even death, Geoff leaves no stone unturned in his quest to help blokes find contentment.
Don’t miss your chance to hear Hutchison and Mitsopoulos unpack the experiences of 'Grumpy Old Buggers' and celebrate the launch of the book with an opportunity to pick up a signed copy.

About the Speakers
In 2022, Geoff Hutchison hung up his headphones after a long career as an ABC broadcaster. Before that, he was a journalist on the 7.30 Report and a one-time Foreign Correspondent. Geoff is intensely curious and reckons he has seldom worked a day in his life.
"It has been one of great privilege: talking to people, witnessing extraordinary moments and coming to the understanding that the things we share are far more significant than those that divide us."
Nadia Mitsopoulos has been a journalist for more than 25 years. She has spent most of that time working in various television newsrooms in Perth and London and has specialised in state politics. She is also on the board of Lifeline WA and AWESOME Arts.
