Ancient inspiration: A hands-on art workshop for young creators

Step into a world of colour, culture, and creativity in this immersive school holiday workshop where ancient history meets modern imagination.

In a relaxed and supportive space, young makers will design their own wearable art and create unique lanterns using a wide array of materials and techniques. With plenty of room to experiment, this is a celebration of creativity, curiosity, and cultural storytelling.

Perfect for curious minds who love to explore, design, and bring their ideas to life.

Please note this workshop does not include entry to the Terracotta Warriors: Legacy of the First Emperor exhibition.

What to expect

  • Design and craft your own handmade jewellery
  • Learn new creative techniques and the basics of jewellery making
  • Discover the cultural significance of lanterns in Chinese tradition
  • Make and decorate your own lantern to take home

All you need to bring is your lunch and water bottle - we'll provide everything else.

Drop and Leave Holiday Programs

Drop and leave programs enable children and young people to experience the Museum independently, discover and learn something new in an area of interest and access materials and resources that would not normally be available at home. All programs are managed and monitored by our experienced Learning and Engagement staff.

Don't take our word for it. Here's what some of our past participants had to say:
