Delight in the spectacular Illuminate: Alice night projection at WA Museum Boola Bardip, launching as part of the City of Perth Christmas Lights Trail.
Inspired by the iconic scenes from the first Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, this visually rich, multisensory and nostalgic large-scale piece by VJzoo will mesmerise young and old.
Follow Alice as she drifts down the rabbit hole and meets all the characters you know and love. From the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, to the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts, lose yourself in this visual explosion of detail and colour!
The work is bright and colourful 3D animation created using Games Development technologies, but grounded very much in Lewis Carroll’s book and inspired by the original drawings by John Tenniel.
Come on an adventure with us, to Wonderland.
Keep an eye out for...
1. All on a Summer’s Day
Alice has fallen asleep reading a book on the banks of a river in Oxfordshire. She awakens to see the White Rabbit rushing past, and follows him down the rabbit hole.
2. Down the Rabbit-Hole
As Alice floats gently down the Rabbit Hole, she passes by the homes of underground residents — a glimpse into the private lives of the characters who work for White Rabbit, esq.
3. Hall of Many Doors
At the bottom of the rabbit hole, Alice finds herself in a hall with many doors and some magical food and drink.
4. White Rabbit Manor Exterior
Alice finds the White Rabbit at his Manor. Carroll subtly wove commentary about the class system into his books, and the White Rabbit’s treatment of his staff is one example of this.
5. White Rabbit Interior
Alice again drinks from a bottle she finds, becoming enormous. On the wall we see portraits of the White Rabbit’s ancestors, created in Midjourney AI. She then eats one of the cakes thrown at her by the workers, becoming small enough to sneak out of the house.
6. Puppy in the Garden
In the garden, Alice comes upon a playful puppy. There is also a beautiful purple moth visiting the flowers — perhaps you will recognise their child very soon…
7. The Bubble Blowing Caterpillar
Alice then comes upon a caterpillar, who blows bubbles when they speak. When asked “Who are you?” Alice questions her identity in light of the many changes in size she has experienced that day.
8. The Cheshire Cat
Walking through a forest, Alice comes upon the Cheshire Cat, who gives her some excellent advice — if you don’t care where you’re going, you’re sure to get somewhere!
9. The Mad Tea Party
A clumsy hare, a horrible host and a sleepy, story-telling dormouse.
10. The Queen’s Croquet Ground
Alice is willing to challenge even the formidable Queen of Hearts on her nonsense.
