See the faces of The Lester Prize come to life after dark at WA Museum Boola Bardip.

Screening nightly as part of Illuminate, Portraits by VJZoo transforms the Museum’s Old Gaol with digital projections featuring a selection of past and present Lester Prize finalist works. Using AI to animate the portraits, the display invites you to reflect on identity, emotion and what a portrait reveals about both artist and subject.

One of Australia’s most recognised fine art prizes, The Lester Prize celebrates portraiture from artists across the country. Alongside the exhibition at WA Museum Boola Bardip, Portraits offers a fresh way to experience these artworks beyond the gallery.
