Do you love jigsaw puzzles? Ever thought this hobby could be useful in palaeontology?

Meet Helen Ryan, a Technical Officer at the WA Museum with a love for both jigsaws and ancient fossils.

Over her 15-year career, Helen has taken part in many field trips and palaeontology digs across Western Australia, uncovering and collecting fossils. When she’s not out in the field, you’ll find her in the lab, cleaning, preserving, and cataloguing fossils for research and display.

Join Helen on a fascinating journey as she shares her experiences—from battling flies and weather in the field to piecing together ancient jigsaw puzzles in the lab. And who knows? She might even reveal her favourite fossil find!
