Ever wondered what an ocean archaeologist does?

What secrets lie beneath the ocean floor?

Inspired by the incredible discoveries made by underwater archaeologists, this hands-on adventure invites young explorers to investigate a mysterious shipwreck hidden beneath the sea. Working like real archaeologists, participants will excavate a simulated seabed dig, carefully record their discoveries and examine artefacts to uncover clues about the past.

Can you solve the mystery? By piecing together evidence, you'll reconstruct the story of your underwater artefacts before creating your own museum display to share your discoveries.

What to Expect

  • Excavate a simulated underwater archaeological dig.
  • Record, analyse and interpret artefacts like a real archaeologist.
  • Solve the mystery of an underwater event using clues and evidence.
  • Create new artefacts inspired by your discoveries.
  • Curate and present your own mini museum exhibition.

Perfect for curious minds who love history, science, puzzles and hands-on discovery.

We'll provide everything - you just need to bring your lunch and a drink bottle.

Drop and Leave Holiday Programs

Drop and leave programs enable children and young people to experience the Museum independently, discover and learn something new in an area of interest and access materials and resources that would not normally be available at home.
